Phoebe's Story
Phoebe Dawson was a ray of sunshine—a beloved member of Sydney's North Shore and Northern Beaches community whose warmth, compassion, and genuine care for others touched everyone who knew her. Her infectious smile and kind spirit made her impossible to forget.
Phoebe dedicated her career to caring for others as a nurse, first as an Oncology Nurse at Royal North Shore Hospital, where she provided comfort and hope to patients during their most vulnerable moments. She later brought that same dedication to the local community as a nurse at South Steyne Medical Centre in Manly, where she became a familiar and cherished face to countless locals.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, if there were any Northern Beaches locals who hadn't met our girl yet, they certainly did when Phoebe served as one of the main nurses administering COVID tests and vaccinations. Through it all, she brought her characteristic warmth and reassurance to everyone she cared for.
Tragically, Phoebe lost her life in February 2024 while driving in a storm. The loss of our sunshine girl has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of compassion, service, and joy continues to inspire us.
The Phoebe Dawson Foundation was established by her husband Tim and their family to ensure that Phoebe's radiant spirit continues to make a difference. In everything we do, we ask ourselves: What Would Phoebe Do? (WWPD). The answer guides us to spread kindness, support our community, and live life with the same generous heart that defined Phoebe.
